Kelly Demers, York County Registry of Probate Clerk
Where did you grow up and go to school?
I grew up in Alfred and went to Alfred Elementary School and Massabesic High School.
What prompted you to decide to seek employment with York County government?
I knew it would be an opportunity to better myself.
How long have you worked for county government and in what capacities? What is your current title?
I work in the York County Registry of Probate, initially for two years as a temporary Adoption/Formal Estate Clerk and for the last 20 years as a full time Adoption/Formal Estate/Name Change clerk.
What did you do before joining York County government?
I previously worked in retail and on a factory production line.
What do you like most about your current job?
The best part of my job is seeing an individual or family come into the Registry of Probate excited to have their name changed or to finalize an adoption, and knowing I was able to help them through the process.
When you're not working, what do you like to do?
Mostly, I enjoy spending time with my husband Jeff, our son Tanner, our daughter-in-law Stephanie, and our grandchildren Ella, Olivia and Levi. I spend summer weekends at our camp in Avon, Maine. I also like watching football on Sundays "GO PATS.” We try to go to a game once a year. I also enjoy working in my flower garden or reading a good book with a cup of coffee.
