Incident Safety Officer
Dates: April 14 & 15. 0800-1700.

Instructor: Regional Alliance for Firefighter Training
Course Info: Course meets NFPA 1521. Pro Board Exam will be administered.
Prerequisites: Fire Officer I (Pro Board).

Maine Fire Chiefs’ Workshop
Dates: April 16 & 17. 0800-1700.
Registration deadline: April 2, 2026.
Instructor: Maine Fire Chiefs’ Association/Maine Fire Service Institute
Course Info: Provides current, new and aspiring Fire Chiefs with an understanding of important considerations for the delivery of fire protection services in their community. The workshop will provide information to assist in the management and leadership of a fire department in Maine.
Fee: $50. Includes lunch both days.

Rapid Intervention Teams
Dates: April 21 - 23. 0800-1700
Registration deadline: April 6, 2026.
Instructor: York County Fire Academy, Sanford Fire Dept.
Course Info: This course meets the requirements of NFPA 1407/Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews. It prepares the Firefighter II with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate as part of a RIC team.
Prerequisites: Firefighter II, Fire Chief Authorization.

Basics of Community Risk Reduction

Instructor: National Fire Academy/Maine Fire Service Institute.
Course Info: Explore risk-reduction programs and learn nationally recognized principles and best practices that can lead to community risk reduction programs that can measure success in local communities.

Introduction to Rope and Low Angle Rescue

Course Info: This class is designed for firefighters, EMS, rescue teams, and outdoor professionals. This course provides foundational skills in rope rescue systems with a focus on low angle environments.

Man vs. Machine
Dates: June 10, 2027. 0800-1630.
Registration Deadline: May 27, 2026
Instructor: P.L. Vulcan Fire Training Concepts.
Course Info: Methods that can be used to disentangle victims from a variety of situations. Basic techniques for removing a variety of rings are addressed. Evolutions progress in complexity to include extremities stuck in multiple machines, impalements, persons trapped under vehicles, torch operations, as well as other “tips & tricks” learned from real-world experiences. The Classroom and Practical Skills portions focus on finding the least complicated methods of performing rescues rather than "overthinking" the situation.
PPE: Students are required to provide their own PPE (Firefighter Turnouts).
