Dates: April 2 & 3.  0800-1630.

Instructor: Regional Alliance for Firefighter Training.

Prerequisites: Fire Instructor II. 

Fee: York County $750. Out of County $850. County Fire Instructors: Free.

Minimum/Maximum: 15.

Registration deadline: March 26, 2026.

Instructor: Regional Alliance for Firefighter Training

Course Info: Course meets NFPA 1021. Pro Board Exam will be administered.  

Prerequisites: Firefighter II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Chief Authorization.

Fee: York County $1,050. Out of County: $1,250

Minimum/Maximum: 12/15.

Incident Safety Officer  

Dates:  April 14 & 15. 0800-1700.

Registration deadline: April 1, 2026.

Instructor: Regional Alliance for Firefighter Training

Course Info: Course meets NFPA 1521. Pro Board Exam will be administered.  

Prerequisites: Fire Officer I (Pro Board).

Fee: York County $750. Out of County: $850.

Minimum/Maximum: 15 students.

Maine Fire Chiefs’ Workshop

Dates: April 16 & 17. 0800-1700.

Registration deadline: April 2, 2026.

Instructor: Maine Fire Chiefs’ Association/Maine Fire Service Institute

Course Info: Provides current, new and aspiring Fire Chiefs with an understanding of important considerations for the delivery of fire protection services in their community. The 

workshop will provide information to assist in the management and leadership of a fire department in Maine.

Fee: $50. Includes lunch both days. Course is free if you are attending following Incident Safety Officer course on April 14 & 15.

Basics of Community Risk Reduction

Dates: April 28 & 29. 0800-1700.

Registration deadline: April 2, 2026.

Instructor: National Fire Academy/Maine Fire Service Institute.

Course Info: Explore risk-reduction programs and learn nationally recognized principles and best practices that can lead to community risk reduction programs that can measure success in local communities.

Fee: Free.

HAZMAT Training Grants

To obtain HAZMAT Training funded through the SERC Grant

  1. Download the HAZMAT Training Request

  2. Complete the HAZMAT Training Request form and email it to firetrain@yorkcountymaine.gov or fax it to 207-324-4997 or by US mail to York County Fire/EMS Office, 149 Jordan Springs Rd, Alfred, ME 04002.

Tuition Reimbursement via Harold Alfond Foundation
