York County Staff Spotlight: Andrew O'Neill

Where did you grow up and go to school?

I grew up in the Bangor region, attending Bangor schools until high school, when I attended Hampden Academy. I went to college in Orono at the University of Maine before moving south to the Portland area.

What prompted you to decide to seek employment with York County government?

My wife works for York County and told me how great a place to work it is. Having been here for a few months now, I can only agree with her.

How long have you worked for county government and in what capacities? What is your current title?

I have worked for York County for almost two months now, and I am a Records Management Specialist.

What did you do before joining York County government?

Prior to York County, I worked as a Quality Manager for a local manufacturing company in Sanford that makes medical devices. I handled our regulatory responsibilities to the FDA and ISO along with our Quality Management System and all the records we generated in the day-to-day operations.

What do you like most about your current job?

I enjoy getting to work with the people and the documents. I am currently working with a lot of our older historical records, which has been exciting. York County is lucky to have records from before either Maine or the United States existed.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

It depends on the season. I enjoy reading, especially in the winter months, as I don't get out as much. Lately, I have been enjoying apple picking with my wife and exploring Wells Beach.
