ALFRED, Maine - More than a dozen members of the Maine County Commissioner’s Association representing seven Maine counties took a road trip on Wednesday July 8, attended their July meeting in Alfred, the county seat of York County. Commissioners from eight additional counties attended virtually.
MCCA President Andre Cushing, a Penobscot County Commissioner, said the association made a deliberate decision when they decided to hold four monthly meetings a year in various counties, rather than entirely online, to give commissioners from across Maine a better understanding of each other and a glimpse of their constituencies.
“It gives us networking opportunities and a chance to visit our sister counties,” he said.
York County made their counterparts welcome, hosting the meeting in the new York County Regional Training Center, providing lunch and a tour of the new facility that opened in January.
What’s next for the group that represents commissioners from across Maine’s 16 counties?
The annual convention is set for Sunday River in Newry, Oxford County in September. Their December meeting will take place at Jackson Laboratories, in Hancock County.
In January, they met in Waldo County at Athenahealth in Belfast, and at Somerset County Jail in Madison in May.
