Biography
Chief Deputy Forbes spent 25 years with the Maine State Police . During his time with the State Police, he was a K-9 handler, Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Team Member, Troop Detective, D.E.A. Task Force Officer, and a Field Training Officer. He was named Maine State Police Trooper of the Year on two occasions. He is only the second Trooper in the history of the Maine State Police to receive this award two different times.
Chief Deputy Forbes has been at the York County Sheriff's Office since 2020. He holds a Master's degree in Public Safety Administration from the University of Virginia. Chief Forbes received his undergraduate degree from Westfield State University where he majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. He was inducted into the Westfield State University Criminal Justice Hall of Fame in 2016. Chief Deputy Forbes is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session #286.
In 2023, Chief Deputy Forbes was named the Maine Sheriff's Office Association Manager of the Year. Other awards include the FBI Distinguished Service Award (2020), Trooper James Griffith Memorial K-9 Team of the Year (2017), Boston Red Sox Hometown Hero Award (2013), Certificate of Recognition from the United States Marshal's Service (2011), and the New England Narcotic Enforcement Officers' Association Award (2000).
Chief Deputy Forbes is currently a Program Assessor for the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. He was the lead assessor for the Scarborough and Cape Elizabeth Police Departments when they applied for and received their accreditation. He also was an assessor for the Somerset County Sheriff's Office when they received their accreditation.
Chief Deputy Forbes is currently a member of the York County Regional First Responder Training Center committee as well as the State of Maine Motorcycle Safety Task Force.
